We kept a few pieces of our history alive. We still have the catwalk leading up to the old projection booth that memorializes our past as an iconic East Falls entertainment venue. Now, we proudly carry on the entertainment tradition in the form of a community music and event space.
The historic curved building at 3721 Midvale Ave operated as a silent film theatre called The Midvale from 1914 to 1929 during its silent film era. It was renamed The Falls Theatre as a sound venue when it became a “Talkie,” from 1929 to 1939. The theatre hit some hard times and on August 16, 1939, it was auctioned off to the highest bidder who was unfortunately a grocery store. After a long run as the local grocer, it became a space for several social service providers and was eventually the home of two tech startups, Bulogics and STRATIS. When the businesses were sold, the tech entrepreneur duo, Felicite Moorman and Ryan Buchert chose to keep the building, saving it from becoming apartments. They opened The Fallser Club in 2022 as a nonprofit venue to offer community, activism and music to the greater Philadelphia area.
